General Notes: Husband - Jacob B. Wineman

He learned the trade of a carpenter at the age of twenty, and followed it until he was twenty-seven years old. He then began business as a merchant at Fannettsburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He started out in life without money and with only a common school education, but by hard work became the owner of four fine farms in Path Valley, as well as his store in Fannettsburg. In December, 1885, he was appointed postmaster at Fannettsburg, by President Cleveland. In politics he was a Democrat.

He remained with his parents until maturity, his boyhood being spent on the farm. Being clever and adroit with the use of tools he took up the carpenter's trade, at which he worked for about four years. He came to Fannettsburg in January, 1873, and began merchandising, keeping a general stock of goods and also a livery in connection with his other business.
