General Notes: Husband - William G. Shillito

He secured his education in the public schools of Smith Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, after which he engaged in farming and continued in agricultural pursuits until 1897. In that year he was elected county commissioner, the family remaining on the farm during his term of office. His farm was probably one of the best improved and most valuable in the township, both coal and oil deposits having been found in paying quantities.
He and his family were members of the United Presbyterian Church. He was a stockholder and a member of the board of directors of the Burgettstown National Bank. Fraternally he was an Elk.

He was a prominent Republican politician in Washington County, Pennsylvania, and was a member of the Board of County Commissioners when the courthouse was erected, and a strong factor in promoting the project.
