General Notes: Husband - Andrew J. Proudfit

He was born on the old home farm, situated one mile and a half west of Burgettstown, Washington County, Pennsylvania, where he was trained to agricultural pursuits from early boyhood, receiving an education in the common schools. After his marriage he resided on a farm one and a half miles north of Burgettstown, and followed farming and stock-raising, giving special attention to fine-wool sheep. In politics he was a lifelong Democrat. He and his wife were both members of the Presbyterian Church.

Known as Andrew Jackson Proudfit ("I think I added that Jackson myself," he confessed, with a twinkle of the eye. "Maybe you can guess my politics,"), he carried on a farm near Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, until his death. He was a most genial and hospitable man, and an irrepressible joker.
