General Notes: Husband - Jacob C. Barnhart


He was brought up in Armstrong County, PA, and received an education in the schools of the time. He was a farmer. In 1856 he bought the farm at New Bethlehem, Clarion County, where his son, Isaac Scott Barnhart, would later reside. He was a Republican, and a mem­ber of the Reformed church.

He was a devout member of the Nevin Mem­orial Reformed Church, and a regular attend­ant, missing only one communion service from 1849 until his death; he served as deacon from 1856 to 1880. He served as school director of Limestone township, Clarion county, PA, for four terms.
