General Notes: Husband - Adam Fisher

He settled at the time of his marriage on a farm which was situated about three miles northeast of Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. This had been given his wife by her father, Abraham Barnhart, and consisted of one hundred and eighteen acres, on which stood an old stone house and a small barn. In the year 1870 Adam Fisher erected the another barn, and in 1887 a house. He also cleared about twenty acres of timber land on the farm and brought that and the remainder of the tract to a high state of cultivation.
He was for many years a severe sufferer from rheumatism, and was greatly handicapped by this trouble from doing his farm work. He was of an extremely mechanical turn of mind and almost deserved the title of inventive genius. He kept a shop and there employed his time, making many novel and practical devices, and often himself originating articles which he used in his work. He was active in the public affairs of the community and served his fellow-citizens for a number of years as a member of the school board. He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church at Middle Churches, and was a man of strong religious feelings and beliefs.
