General Notes: Husband - John Phillips

He was of Welsh descent, and came over the mountains to Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He settled on a farm of one hundred acres in what was then Elizabeth township. This was practically a wilderness at the time he acquired the land and he cleared a portion of it, and erected a stone house, which was still occupied into the twentieth century. He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian church.
