General Notes: Husband - Samuel Peoples

He was born in Scottdale, Pennsylvania, and was nine years old when the family moved to Cowansburg. Two years later he began to do farm work, and when about sixteen became his father's assistant in the shop. He spent a portion of four years at the trade, but finding is uncongenial he abandoned it and went to work in the mines, remaining there for six years. In 1881 he engaged in the mercantile business in Cowansburg, in partnership with D. T. Marsh. After some seven years Mr. Peoples sold his interest to his partner, engaged in business for himself, and for more than eighteen years was one of the well-known merchants of that part of Westmoreland County. He filled several local offices, belonged to the Republican party, and was a member and trustee of the Baptist church.

He and his wife had eight children; six were still living in 1906.
