He served as Justice of the Peace of his township; two terms as Burgess of Venango Borough, and was School Director of the borough and township for many years. In politics he was a Republican. He was a member of the I. O. O. F., and of the E. A. U. He and his wife were adherents of the Methodist Episcopal Church for many years.
