He was educated in the Elizabeth public schools, and spent his entire life on the family homestead where he was born and where he conducted one of the finest dairy and stock farms in that section of the country. He made a specialty of Guernsey cattle, and disposed of the surplus of his herds, amounting to about twelve head a year, for breeding purposes, for which he received very fancy prices. He was unmarried [1904], and was an independent in politics.
