General Notes: Husband - Samuel Barnes


He was born on the family homestead in Mercer township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, and resided with his parents until settling on a farm in Slippery Rock township. He cleared and improved this property, and spent the balance of his life there. He was a soldier in the War of 1812. In early life he supported the Whig party, and afterwards became a Democrat. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church.
