Kansas

His early education was obtained in the public schools and this was supplemented by tuition in a private school at Shippingport, Pennsylvania. He took up farming in Raccoon township, Beaver County, and eventually located on the farm which had belonged to his father. Like his father, he took an active interest in the community affairs as a member of the Republican party, and served as school director, supervisor, and as county commissioner, 1909-10-11. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church.
