He was a carpenter by occupation, and died in Allegheny, Pennsylvania. During the Civil War he was a member of Company K, Thirteenth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, from April to August, 1861; Company I, Second Regiment of Artillery, November, 1861, to November, 1863; Company I, Second Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, as a sharpshooter, November, 1863, to January, 1866.
