General Notes: Husband - Joseph Wise

He lived on the mill property of the Wise family, which he owned and operated for several years. About the year 1824 his brother, Frederick Wise, purchased a half interest in the mill property and it was operated by the brothers as joint owners until 1840, when it finally passed out of the ownership of the Wise family. Joseph also purchased 165 acres of the original Wise tract from Andrew Wise, the son of Peter Wise, and resided there until his death. He was a member and for many years a ruling elder in the Regular Baptist Church. He was a man of strong religious conviction and was always ready to defend the doctrines of his church, yet he was liberal and tolerant of the opinions of others, and had the respect and confidence of all.
