General Notes: Husband - Josiah Newbury

His father died when Josiah was quite small, and he was therefore compelled to make his own living long before he reached his majority. He, however, remained with his mother until 1836, when he moved with Robert Pardoe to Trumbull County, Ohio, and for whom Mr. Newbury worked on a farm in Ohio for one year, and then came with the same gentleman to Mercer County, Pennsylvania, and remained in his employ for seven years more. After marriage, he and his wife lived with her mother for one year, because of the death of her father. In 1845 they made their settlement on their own farm. It was at that time principally a dense forest, and consequently necessitated a vast amount of hard labor to become productive.
