She was in charge of the drug department of the Women's Medical College at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She began her career as a teacher in the public schools of Westmoreland County, but in the meantime bent her efforts to the study of pharmacy, and then for a few years was engaged in the drug business at Denver, Colorado. From there she was called to her position at Women's Medical College.
