General Notes: Husband - Samuel H. Stine

Patton Twp, Centre Co, PA - a farmer

He was born in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, whence in 1830 he was brought to Centre county by his parents.

On February 11, 1862, he joined Company H, 56th P. V. I. He participated in many important engagements, including those of Gettysburg, Antietam, South Mountain and the second battle of Bull Run, and at the battle of Cold Harbor was wounded, June 2, 1864. When his term of enlistment had expired he was honorably discharged and mustered out February 18, 1865. He later received a pension of $12 per month for his service. He was the owner of a home on fourteen acres in Patton township, near Paradise. He uniformly voted the straight Republican ticket, and in religious belief was a Methodist.

He and his first wife became the parents of thirteen children, six of whom died in childhood.
