He spent his early years in his native county, but he was little more than a boy when he came to western Pennsylvania, locating at Barkeyville, in Irwin Township, Venango County. He learned the painter's trade, at which he became very skillful, and as he added to his experience made a specialty of house decorating, following that line in Venango County throughout his active years. In 1892 he removed from Barkeyville to Franklin. [CAB, 855]
