General Notes: Husband - [Ancestor] Mossman

The first ascertainable ancestor of the Mossman family was a Scotchman, who, after taking a leading part in the wars with England during the later part of the sixteenth century, suffered confiscation of his property. The family home was thus broken up, and one of the three sons of the Scotch leader settled in the north of Ireland. It is quite a singular genealogical fact that for some generations the family in that locality was represented by only one son, and when John Mossman, Sr., came to America there was no male representative in the north of Ireland. 1
