General Notes: Husband - Rev. John Moses

He came from Scotland to America with his first wife and their two oldest children in 1850, making the voyage in a sailing ship. After a voyage of five weeks they landed in the harbor of New York City, whence they drifted west to Pennsylvania and located in Pittsburgh, where he was a mine superintendent. After living there for some length of time he bought a farm in Mercer County and later moved to Washington County, spending the remainder of his life there. He was one of the pioneer Baptist ministers in that part of the state, having preached at Midway, Orangeville, Sharon and in Hubbard, Ohio. He labored for the love of the cause of Christianity, and never received but a small compensation for his services. In political matters he voted with the Republican Party.
He had ten children with his first wife; four of them were still living in 1909.
He died when seventy-five years of age.

Formerly of Sharon, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, but later a resident of Midway, Washington County. He was the organizer of the First Baptist Church at Midway and was its pastor for twenty-five years.
