General Notes: Husband - Edward Beal

He was in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge from the Navy, he went to sea and worked up the ladder until he became a ship's officer. He married and their home was on Long Island, NY, near the ocean, and Edward was Ship's Captain of the "Merriweather Lewis" and was carrying supplies to Russia out of the Brooklyn Navy Yard. His wife was employed at the Navy Yard by the Navy. He set sail for Murmanx with a cargo of "paste nitro" and tanks for the Russians. Nothing was ever heard from his ship; it is thought that the U-Boats got it. At the time of his death he was trying for a commission in the U.S. Navy as a Lt. Commander.

General Notes: Wife - Hazel [Unk]
