He was a native of Hartford, Washington County, New York, removing with his parents to Essex County, and then to Chautauqua County, in the same state. He finally settled on a farm at Harbor Creek, Erie County, Pennsylvania, and his last years were spent in Corry, Pennsylvania. He was a Republican, and a member of the Baptist church.
