General Notes: Husband - Maj. Robert W. Lyon


He enlisted in 1861 as a private in the 13th P. V. I., served four years and two months, and advanced to the rank of major. At the close of the war he settled in the city of Allegheny, and in 1869 moved to Pittsburgh. In 1881 he was elected mayor of that city, which office he held for three years. He accepted the position of assistant superintendent of the steel-works at McKee's Rocks in 1886. He was a Freemason and a member of the G. A. R.; in politics a democrat.
