He came to America about 1795 and located at the foot of Tussey Mountain in Centre County, Pennsylvania, where he engaged in farming throughout the remainder of his life. He was twice married, the first time in his native land, and his wife died while on the way to the New World. Their only child he carried across the mountains, and later gave to a private family to rear.
