He graduated from Dickinson College in 1874; was admitted to the Dauphin county bar in 1875; was elected prothonotary of Dauphin County in 1879 and re-elected in 1882; for many years was in the active practice of his profession.

He was admitted to practice law in the Butler County, Pennsylvania, bar, October, 1875. He went west. [TCHBC, 253]
