General Notes: Husband - David Walker

from Juniata County, Pennsylvania - he served in the army of the Revolution, and was present at the massacre at Paoli. He narrowly escaped the sad fate of many of his companions. He, however, unwilling to leave the field without some trophy, transfixed with his bayonet a large piece of bacon and fled. A British horseman pursuing, overtook him on the edge of a deep marsh, and was upon the point of cutting him down with his sword, when Walker leveled his musket and fired. The horseman, to use his own words, "followed him no more." It was after his return from the army that his marriage with Ann Banks took place. In business he amassed a large estate. He stood high in the esteem of his fellow-citizens, and held various places of trust.
