He was born near Lurgan, Ireland, about 1715; came to America about 1740, and purchased a farm near Welsh Run, in what is now Franklin County, Pennsylvania, then it was in Peters township, Cumberland County, where he resided until his death.
He left a will, which was proved March 10, 1779, and is recorded in the Register's Office at Carlisle in Will Book "C," page 145.
