General Notes: Husband - Charles Parker Miller

He was educated at the public schools, and was graduated at the Chambersburg High School. He was a clerk in his father's store, 1875-92, and at his father's death succeeded to the business, in which his mother retained an interest, the firm becoming C. P. Miller & Co. This was the oldest house in continuous business, conducted by the same family, in the county. It was one hundred years old in 1906. The business grew rapidly under Mr. Miller's direction, and became the largest house of its kind in the Cumberland Valley, being a house furnishing store, including stoves, chinaware, glass lamps, and household hardware. In connection with the business the firm ran a manufacturing and repair shop and employed a number of men.
Mr. Miller was a member of George Washington Lodge, No. 143, F. & A. M.; of the Chambersburg Chapter; and of Continental Commandery, No. 56, Chambersburg; and Zembo Temple, Mystic Shrine, Harrisburg. He was a charter member of the B. P. O. E., in Chambersburg, of the Knights of Pythias, and of the Red Men. In politics he was a Republican, but he never aspired for any political office.
