General Notes: Husband - John Bell Wallace

---

He learned the wheelwright trade with his father and carried on this line of business in a number of places in western Pennsylvania. In 1851 he joined the great migration to the California gold fields, where he engaged in mining for a time, and then resumed his trade, which he carried on for a number of years in California, and then established himself in Portland, Oregon. After an absence of thirty-eight years he returned to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1898, and at the house of his son Samuel he died two weeks afterward.
