General Notes: Husband - Ira A. Whitney


He embarked in the mercantile trade in Pittsfield, PA, in 1873, dealing extensively in all classes of merchandise, grain, seeds, feed, flour, lum­ber, shingles, clothing, boots and shoes, and did a general barter business to accom­modate his farming trade. He was appointed postmaster November, 1885.
