General Notes: Husband - Daniel McMillan

He immigrated to the United States about 1793, and settled near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His wife died on the voyage to America, leaving a family of four sons and two daughters, two of whom, William and John, subsequently settled in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. [HVC 1890, 996]

John McMillan was Scotch-Irish. His cousin Thomas was a bachelor, and built a hotel in which his brother William accommodated some of the attendants at the first courts held in Mercer County. The farm was later owned by John McEwen. William McMillan was one of the commissioners who laid out the town of Mercer. He and Thomas were both Revolutionary soldiers. William drew a pension.
