The Spackman family originated in Hankertown, England, and after locating in America settled in Chester County, Pennsylvania, from whence it moved to Centre County and eventually to Clearfield County.

He and his wife were for a time residents of Bellfonte, Pennsylvania, and from that place they removed to Clearfield County where both spent the remainder of their lives.
