He was a farmer, who came to Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, from Ireland about 1790, and purchased 163 acres of land in South Fayette township, formerly the property of Christian Lesnett, making, in 1816, an additional purchase of 163 acres.

He and his wife had two sons and two daughters.
