General Notes: Husband - Dr. William Neal Sims

For several years his father had a bank in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and he and his brother, Thompson N., were clerks therein. After the death of his father, he read medicine with Dr. Morton, of Wheeling, West Virginia, and was there admitted to practice. His first location was in St. Clairsville, Belmont County, Ohio, where he remained two years. After a practice of some years at Pughtown, Brooke County, West Virginia, at the instance of his uncle, Dr. Samuel S. Neale, of Kittanning, Pennsylvania, he removed in 1831, to Glade Run, Armstrong County. In the fall of 1839, he located in Smicksburg, Indiana County, where eventually he died.
Dr. Sims was one of "nature's noblemen." He was a true physician in every sense of the term. His professional calls were made without reference to the paying quality of the patient, and he labored as earnestly for a pauper as for the most wealthy of his patrons. Three days before his death he predicted his decease which occurred in accordance with his prophecy.
