General Notes: Husband - Hugh G. McKay

He was educated in Edinboro and Clarion State Normal, and taught school ten terms, teaching and attending alternately, thus defraying his expenses. He studied law under Joshua Douglas, of Meadville, Pennsylvania, and was admitted to the bar in 1900. He practiced in Meadville one year and then went to Sharon, where he built up a lucrative practice. In his political views Mr. McKay was a firm believer in the general principles as laid down in the various planks of the Republican party.
In his church faith, he was in accord with the Methodist Episcopal denomination, and fraternally he was connected with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was the secretary and manager of the Shenango Valley Building and Loan Association.
