General Notes: Husband - Dr. Daniel Stewart McGowan


He was educated at Dickinson College, and then read medicine under Dr. Cummings, of Fayetteville, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Later he attended lectures at Baltimore, Maryland, and graduated in the spring of 1832. He located at Everett, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, where he remained a short time; then came to Fayetteville, where he followed his profession the rest of his life, and was one of the leading physicians of the county. He bought out the practice of his preceptor, who had become a Presbyterian minister. He died at forty-seven years of age. He was a Royal Arch Mason. He was first an old line Whig, but later a Republican.
