General Notes: Husband - Thomas McElroy

The immigrant ancestor of this family in America was Thomas McElroy, of Scotch-Irish extraction, who came to America at an early day and became one of the pioneer settlers of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He located on a farm about fifteen miles east of Pittsburgh. He came to this section of the country with his brothers, John, Robert and James, and each took up a separate tract of land in what was, at that time, a wilderness. These tracts they cleared of timber and converted into fertile farms. Thomas eventually disposed of his estate and removed to Westmoreland County, where he continued to reside until his death.
