General Notes: Husband - Matthew McCoy

Revolutionary War: He spent five years as an officer in the 7th Battalion of Cumberland County Militia commanded by his neighbor, Col. Frederick Watts. He was listed as a Lieutenant in the company of Capt. Frederick Taylor in July of 1777 and January and May of 1778. In May and December of 1780 the militia rolls indicate he had been advanced to the rank of Captain and placed in command of his own company. What, if any, active service he saw is unknown.
