He grew to manhood on the home farm, and after his marriage rented a nearby farm of Alexander McKee, which he cultivated until his early death at the age of thirty-seven years.

---

She never remarried, but after the death of her husband removed to the farm her father-in-law had willed to her and her children. There she built a house in 1842, which was her residence until its destruction by fire in 1878, two years prior to her death.
