General Notes: Husband - Archibald Thistle


He entered his brother's store, as a partner, at the age of 18, and when 28 years old started in a general mercantile business at Sistersville, continuing uninterruptedly until his death at the age of 78. He was the wealthiest and one of the most respected citizens of his county. He was postmaster before, during and after the Civil War period, covering in all 25 years.
