He grew to manhood in his native place, residing in Dickinson township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, for twenty-eight years, after which he moved to Southampton township, settling two miles east of the borough of Shippensburg. There he had his home until 1880, in which year he moved to the township of Shippensburg, where he died.
