General Notes: Husband - Robert Witherup

---

In youth he commenced an apprenticeship to the trade of cabinetmaker which he did not finish, and later he learned the carpenter's trade. During 1847 he was employed by his father, who was building a sawmill, spent the next year at home helping his brothers about the farm and lumbering, and in 1849 was engaged in digging iron ore on the old Rockland farm. He lived at home until his marriage. They lived on the Harrison Wasson farm until November, 1853, when they moved to the Witherup farm on the hill, now [1919] owned by James B. Witherup. In 1870 Mr. Witherup moved to the Joseph Phipps farm, where he remained during the rest of his life. [CAB, 1067]
