General Notes: Husband - Hiram A. Baker

He came to Crawford County, Pennsylvania, with his parents, in 1830, and spent the remainder of his life there and in Erie County, Pennsylvania. He received a good preparatory education and taught school in various parts of Crawford County, in the meantime beginning the study of law. His legal preceptor was H. L. Richmond, an eminent lawyer and congressman of Meadville, where his law practice was located. Mr. Baker was admitted to the Crawford county bar in 1848; he was married in 1849, and soon afterward located in Titusville, Pennsylvania, remaining there in legal practice until 1868. He moved to Corry in that year, practicing his profession until his death. He was for several years a law partner with C. O. Bowman, and after the death of his partner was associated in practice with ex-Mayor Crosby, of Corry, until death dissolved the partnership.
