Daniel H. Bell, 78, was active in Rockland
Daniel H. Bell, 78, of Rockland (Kennerdell RD 1), died at 10:04 p.m. Thursday in the Oil City Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born in Cranberry Sept. 16, 1903, a son of Stanley J. and Lottie Robison Bell. He attended the old Salina School.
He was first employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad and then for the Socony Mobil Oil Co., working there for 24 years. After his retire­ment from that plant he started driving school bus, continuing that job at the Cranberry School Dis­trict for 13 years.
Mr. Bell was active in the var­ious affairs in Rockland. He was president of the Rockland Ceme­tery Association from 1953 to the present time.
He was a member of the Rock­land Volunteer Fire Department, Rockland Sportsmen's Club and the Rockland United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Allegheny Valley Lodge 552, F & AM, Emlenton, Venango Lodge of Perfection, Oil City, and New Cas­tle Consistory.
He was married to the former Helen Baker Jan. 14, 1926, and she survives, along with a son, James S. Bell of Erie; two grandchildren, Michael J. Bell of Rockland, and Mrs. Dennis G. (Peggy) Myers of Waterford; five great-grandchil­dren, and one brother, J. Reed Bell of Victory Heights.
Friends may call at the Huff Chapel any time after 7 p.m. today. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
Funeral services will be held at the Huff Chapel at 3 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. E. C. Patterson, pastor of the Rockland United Methodist Church, officiating. In­terment will be in Rockland Ceme­tery.

Mrs. Helen E. Bell
Mrs. Helen E. Bell, 76, a former resident of Rockland, Kennerdell RD 1, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon at Hamot Medical Center in Erie.
Mrs. Bell had resided in Erie the past several months.
Born June 5, 1907, in Rockland, she was the daughter of James and Nora Caner Baker.
Mrs. Bell attended public school in Rockland and was a member of the Rockland United Methodist Church. She had resided in Rockland her entire life.
She married Daniel H. Bell January 14, 1926. He preceded her in death July 29, 1982.
She is survived by a son, James S. Bell of Erie; two grandchildren, Michael J. Bell of Rockland and Mrs. Dennis (Peggy) Myers of Waterford; three sisters, Mrs. Marlene Petrie of Olean, N. Y., Mrs. Audene Braun and Mrs. Betty Henderson, both of Seneca; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Fedelia Longwell and Mrs. Geraldine Campbell; and a brother, Kenneth Baker.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 pm today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Friday at the Huff Chapel in Franklin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Jack Reaugh, pastor of Rockland United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be Rockland Cemetery.
