General Notes: Husband - James McKnight

---

He located in the town of Indiana, Pennsylvania, where he filled a number of offices creditably, being an excellent scholar. He was the first burgess for the new borough of Indiana in 1816 and re-elected to the office for the year 1817. He had been commissioners' clerk for the years 1807 and 1811, and county treasurer for the years 1811-12. He and Rev. John Jamieson were two of the thirteen trustees of the Indiana Academy, which was incorporated March 28, 1814, and James McKnight was elected treasurer.
