The eldest child in the family, he was nine weeks old when he landed in America with his parents.
He was a wagon-maker by trade, and purchased part of the 200-acre tract in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, at the death of his father.
He served in the War of 1812.
He and his wife had nine children.
