General Notes: Husband - Henry A. Rifenberg


He came to Venango County, PA, with his father, in 1838. He went to Wisconsin, in 1858, and there enlisted in 1861, August 26th, in the 1st Wisconsin Light Artillery, under the command of Captain J. T. Foster. He was with Gen. Sherman at the battle of Chickasaw Heights, and Gen. Osterhous, at Thompson Hill, Black River Ridge, Champion Hills, Vicksburgh, Jackson, MS, the fight lasting seven days. Alexandria on Red river, Arkansas Post, Cumberland Gap, Tazewell, and several other small engagements The battery being under the enemy's fire 47 days in all. He was discharged July 16th, 1865, at the close of the war, and returned to his home in Venango County. He married and settled in Canal township.
