General Notes: Husband - Henry L. Sanderson

Greece City, PA
He attended school for a few months during each year, held in a school house between one and two miles from his home, across Muddy creek bottom, being often compelled to wade through the water during the wet seasons. At the age of sixteen years he went to Butler, PA, where he learned the carpenter's trade, afterwards following his trade at Parker during the oil excitement in that locality, saving sufficient money to purchase tools. He then returned home, was married and settled upon a part of the old homestead, erected a house, and resided there about eight years. Their residence on the old homestead was burned to the ground, and they then purchased a farm of seventy-six acres in Concord township, cleared a portion of it and erected a home. This he sold with twenty acres of his farm, and then built another residence. Oil was found on the place the same year he bought it, and there were as many as eight producing oil wells thereon and one gas well. He devoted his principal attention to his trade. Both he and his wife were members of the Methodist Episcopal church. Politically, he was a Republican, and was connected with Millerstown Lodge, K. of P.
