He enlisted August 18, 1861, and was Corpo­ral in Company D, Capt. O. S. Woodward, of Col. McLane's 83d Pa. Vol. Infantry. He was discharged Oct. 25, 1862, on account of a gunshot wound in the thigh, received at Gaines' Mills, June 26, 1862. Was taken prisoner July 1st, 1862, and confined at Belle Isle, Va.
