General Notes: Husband - John Mathias

---

After his marriage he settled on a farm which was then owned by his father and later became the property and residence of his son, Harry S. Mathias. Some years later he removed to Manor, where in partnership with his father, he was engaged in the buying and shipping of grain. From Manor he went to Madison, where for some time he was in the mercantile business, after which he returned to the farm and there passed the remainder of his days. He served several years as school director and was solicited to run for the office of county treasurer and county commissioner, but declined. He was a Democrat in politics and a member of the United Baptist church.
