General Notes: Husband - William Mathews

He was a native of Ireland, who migrated to America when his son James was only four months old. His first settlement was in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, in 1786. About 1792, he removed to Fairfield township, Westmoreland County, where he died, while James was serving in the war of 1812.
